Research Guides and Tutorials

The Library has many print research guides at the Reference DeskImage of books to help you with library research. Visit our Research Guides and Tutorials page to see some that we've made available online. You can also find a few online tutorials.

Class Orientations

Instructors can arrange library orientations for their classes. Library orientations typically include an introduction to library services and instruction on the library catalog and research databases. Orientations can also be customized to meet the specific research needs of your students. To schedule an orientation for your class, fill out the orientation request form for Rocklin campus or contact the Reference Desk at your local campus. Please allow at least one week advance notice for an orientation.

We strongly encourage faculty members to attend orientation sessions with their classes. It has been our experience that students are more receptive and attentive to library orientations when the instructor is present.

Learning Outcomes

After attending a library orientation, students will be able to:

  • identify and locate library resources and reference services
  • access the library's subscription resources from off-campus
  • select credible and authoritative resources for their assignment
